Didn't happen, a bomb scare at my son's JR. High School rearranged my day. So we did what we were going to do on Saturday today. We'll do on Saturday what we were planning to do Friday.

There was no bomb. But 700 students were out of school for the entire day. I feel sorry for the kid that called that one in. Especially if it was from his cell phone or his home phone.

Well Saturday morning found us enroute to Texas, an emergency trip the the bedside of a dying neice, liver failure. Drugs and alcohol were involved. By the time we arrived, she'd made a miraculous recovery. It was dark by the time we got home.

On the road trip home, alongside an 18 Wheeler Tanker Truck, what sounded like a gunshot rang out. Then, tremendous road noise and my thirteen year old whimpering from the rear of the car. The side glass on the passenger door had shattered into a million and one pieces, all over the back seat and my son. There was no gunshot, probably only a rock thrown up by a wheel.

The driver pulled over and was great, as we looked everything over and swept the glass out of the car. It appeared it was just a freak accident. No evidence of anything amiss.

My son was actually playing his acoustic and had moved to the center seatbelt. As a result of his position, he avoided glass in his eyes or skin. Much of the time I've looked back to see him leaning his head against the same window sound asleep.

Needless to say, we were counting our blessings. Our niece recovering from near fatal liver failure, and our son preserved from bodily harm just inches from his face and particularly his eyes. The wife was grousing about her car window, but I said, "You just absolutely have to look on the bright side."

I said all that to say this, my Saturday got gone too, no guitar work that day. I generally don't work on Sundays in my shop. Lastly, they caught the kid who called in the bomb threat. He and his girlfriend thought it would be fun to get out of school for the day. Charges are pending. Ignorance gone to seed.

Friday, my son and I made it to the mountain cabin and took inventory of and selected boards for resawing. We loaded black walnut, cherry, pecan, and catalpa, all native species for future guitars.

How'd your weekend go? Ours turned out really well! Guitars on Monday.
